Levels Of Knowing God and Supernatural Witness

The highest Level of Knowing God is when we are receiving

1A. Direct, Immediate, Current Revelation.

This direct revelation changes our hearts, fills us with a supernatural level of love joy peace holiness gentleness and truth. (the bible calls this 'being full of the holy spirit' 'walking in the spirit' and 'the fruit of the spirit.')

1B. Residual Carry Over from the direct Revelation

The supernatural changes in our hearts remain as a supernatural witness. The truths revealed remain in us.

2. Second Hand Witness:

People witness the changes in our hearts and know and accept that the witness is true although they don't understand it completely.

3. Third Hand Witness:

People reject the second hand witness because they know it is untrue, un-understood, and incomplete.

Generations

You often see this happening in succeeding Generations in a society or even a church!

1A. When a revival comes the whole community receives first hand, direct revelation of God.

1B. After revival a supernatural witness of God's reality remains in changed hearts.

2. The next generation receives the supernatural witness of the changed hearts but has no direct personal revelation of God.

3. The next generation after that usually rejects God because they have had no supernatural witness.

In the Church

This can and does happen in the church! That is why we see churches become bogged down with legalism (following a bunch of man-made rules instead of God) and nominalism (people who are christians in name only and not in heart nor deed.) This even happens on the Denominational Level... whole denominations turning away from God because they have lacked supernatural witness.

Each generation must know God for themselves or the whole church and society starts breaking down.

This has happened over and over and over again in the bible and throughout the history of man and church. We need God to come and RESCUE US from this!
